COMMUNITY NEED: The Lancaster Area Literacy Cooperative's Bookstore needs childrens' books. 
Please consider donating your gently used or new childrens' books.  You can bring them to the Second Chance Bookshop at 105 West Dunlap in Lancaster.


COMMUNITY NEED: Donations needed for the Hospice & Community Care Resale Shop.
Donate gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, household items, furniture, toys and books. All donations are tax deductible. Shop and find great prices. All proceeds benefit the patients and families of Hospice & Community Care. Volunteer to help sort, organize, and display merchandise. Help pick up donations and ask about upcoming volunteer training sessions. Store hours are Wednesday through Friday: 10AM-5PM and Saturday: 10AM-3PM. Hospice & Community Care is a non-profit community organization founded in 1985 that serves York, Chester, Lancaster, Cherokee, Fairfield and Union Counties. After school art classes at the studio begin on January 9, 2012. Classes are offered  Mondays through Thursdays from 3:30-4:30PM or 5:00-6:00PM (except Wednesdays). Fees for classes are: $60.00 per month for (1) student in a family and $55.00 per month for each child (2) students or more in a family. Singer and songwriter, Jimbo Whaley grew up in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, at the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains with music always being a part of his life. Whaley has pulled many memories reflecting that upbringing and written numerous songs including: The Foundation, M.R.s Rolling Store, The Legend of Jack Huff, and the fan favorite, The Kings Of Orebank. When Gothal catches Theo stealing from her walled garden, she forces him to give her his first born daughter, who she names Rapunzel. Imprisoned in a tower, Rapunzel spends her lonely days longing for companionship – until she meets the charming Prince Derrick. Let's Hang On pays tribute to the sounds of Valli and the Four Seasons featuring a cast of six singers and dancers backed by a hard-driving four piece band. Four flashy "suit clad" guys and two beautiful ladies recreate the sounds and classic steps of an era known for fun and uplifting music. The show features all the hits of Valli and the Four Seasons plus a host of other classics...

The event, sponsored by Lancaster County First Steps, will be held at the Bradley Arts and Sciences Building, University of South Carolina, Lancaster. Tickets $40 single, $75 couple. Free Libations. MICKEY THOMAS is the owner of the soaring voice that propelled STARSHIP through the decades of the 80’s and 90’s. With his soulful and compelling vocals, Mickey has established himself as one of Rock Music’s most recognizable stars. Mickey made his mark in 1976 as lead vocalist on the mega-hit “FOOLED AROUND AND FELL IN LOVE” with The ELVIN BISHOP Band. In 1979, Mickey joined the JEFFERSON STARSHIP as lead vocalist, after the departure of Grace Slick and Marty Balin. Backed by the power of Mickey's vocals, JEFFERSON STARSHIP immediately scored a #1 hit with “JANE”.
